He attended school in Holycross. He married his wife Joan Russell of Killea on the 26th of April 1967 in St. James Church, Killea. He is survived by his children; Patrick, Sarah and Theresa. He died after a long illness on the 27th of January 2014 and his funeral took place in Holycross Abbey.
