Final preparations are being put in place for the return of the relics of the true Cross to Holycross Abbey. On Sunday morning next Feb 19th at eleven o clock Mass the relics will be returned to the Abbey for Mass with the main celebrant Archbishop Dermot Clifford, and the Abbot of Mount St. Joseph in Roscrea. Also in attendance will be sisters of the Ursuline Convent Blackrock, Cork who had offered to return part of the relics that was retained by them when the Abbey was restored in 1975. The new location for the relics will have some of the most modern security systems in place with bullet proof glass, alarm systems and sensors all in an attempt to ensure that what happened on Oct. 11th, when the relics were stolen from the Abbey, never happens again. We look forward to this celebration when the parish of Holycross\/Ballycahill and the wider faith community can celebrate and rejoice once again.<\/p>\n
