National Tree Week
To celebrate 2012 Tree Week, Ms. Doran’s 3rd class visited the Biodiversity Garden on the Cashel Rd. Joe Bourke of the Holycross Development Association spoke to the children on the gardens features and trees were planted to celebrate the event.
Cóineartú/Confirmation
Our 5th and 6th class pupils are continuing their programme of preparation for Confirmation on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. in the Community Centre with the Faith Friends Programme.
Cór na Scoile/School Choir
The children in 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes are practising for the Confirmation Ceremony to be held on Wednesday March 28th. Confirmation is always a great day for the school and families involved. We look forward to the occasion. Many thanks to all the teachers for all their work in preparing for Confirmation.
Iomáint/Hurling
Our Annual School League is in full swing. Lunchtimes are busy as the teams do battle for those valuable league points. All the children enjoy the games and it gives them an opportunity to practice and hone their skills. The fixtures for the Cumann na mBunscoil competitions have been announced. Our school hurling and camogie teams will be in action after the Easter break. Good luck to the following boys and girls who will represent Scoil Micheál Naofa at the Primary Game selection days:

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2012
Beidh Comórtas Trath na gCeist do Bhunscoileanna ar siúl sa Leabharlann “The Source” i rith Seachtain na Gaeilge.
To celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge, from 5th-17th March, Thurles Library have organised a Tráth na gCeist on Monday 12th March. Representing Scoil Micheál Naofa ar an bhfoireann beidh Eoin Ryan, James Ryan, Ben Slattery, Colin Nolan, Bryan O’Mara agus Áine Dunne.
World Book Day
A representative group from the school celebrated World Book Day with a trip to Bookworm, Thurles kindly facilitated by John Butler. They were also entertained in the Library by wonderful story telling with Denis Kenny. The day was celebrated in each class in the school with children dressing up, bringing in their favourite books and conducting book reviews.
