Scoil Micheál Naofa
Welcome to Scoil Micheál Naofa which is situated in the village a stones throw from the historic Holycross Abbey and the River Suir. We are a Catholic co-educational primary school that offers a child centred curriculum. Our committed, supportive and dedicated staff work together to educate and care for our children in partnership with our parent body and the wider school community. While we embrace the Catholic ethos, we welcome all other faiths and religions.
We aim to foster each child’s self-esteem in an atmosphere of learning, care and respect. The Bord of Management, in conjunction with the parents and teachers aim to maintain a high quality of education in a safe school environment where each child is facilitated to achieve his or her maximum potential. Scoil Micheál Naofa promotes a sense of care and responsibility for the environment through our Green Schools programme. We strive to instil in each child an appreciation of our cultural heritage, traditional values coupled with an awareness of our national and European identity.
We were all excited last September when Gort na nÓg, our Community Childcare Centre opened its doors. This state of the art childcare complex (catering for babies, toddlers, pre-school, playschool and after school children from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) is nestled on school grounds and offers another educational dimension to the parish and surroundings.
Our school motto “ocht mbliana ag fás” encompasses the Crusaders Cross and our hope for each child is that they will have grown in body, mind and spirit during their time with us.
