Bad weather hinders progress on Fionn’s Dome
As the weather has been unfortunately bad in these past few weeks we haven’t made much progress on our dome. We have finished most of our personal pieces so we are just waiting on the weather to clear up to finish off the weaving and stone bowl. All eyes are on the skies as we are itching to get going again.
Helping Zambia
Brother O’Donoghue has been out in Zambia for many years and has helped a village so much by building schools, growing food and organizing the community. We know there is enough to go around in our world if it was shared properly. To try and help Ballycahill NS collected €500 and donated it to Brother O’Donoghue’s cause. Hearing about Zambia makes us realize how much we have and how we should be so grateful for it.
Mrs. Gallagher and Miss Anita Retire
The 30th of November was a very sad day because it was Mrs. Gallagher’s and Miss Anita’s retirement celebration. We had been planning the surprise party for a while. When they walked into the hall they were totally shocked. We had a great day with a DJ, lights and delicious food. The children from 4th, 5th and 6th all performed their own party pieces.
We’ll miss Mrs. Gallagher and Miss Anita lots and we wish them all the best in the future.
Hosanna Rock
We are practicing for our Christmas concert ‘Hosanna Rock’. It will be held on the 20th of December 2011 in Ballycahill Community Hall. All children at Ballycahill NS are taking part. Hosanna Rock tells the nativity story through music and dance. All are Welcome.
Communion Masses
The children in second class of Ballycahill School are preparing for their communion. There has been one mass so far and it went very well. The children are all very excited about the celebration. The next Mass will be on the 17th of December. The Masses are titled ‘Do this in Memory of Me’. Every one is welcome to come and help the children prepare for their special day.
Bake Sale
The Parents Council are holding a cake sale in the school on Saturday the 17th of December after Mass.
We are appealing to all parents to bring cakes, buns and so on to the school between 5pm and 6pm for the cake sale.

Christmas Competition
The Parents Council are holding a Christmas Competition for all the children in the school. Entrants can draw a picture, write a poem, joke or story and send them in by Friday the 16th of December.
