Jackie was born on the 22nd of August 1941. He went to school in Thurles to the CBS primary and then to the Vocational School. He qualified as an electrician with Bord na Mona where he worked for many years. He was hurling captain of The winning Tipperary intermediate team of 1963. He had a keen interest in soccer and played for the Tipperary team that won the Oscar Traynor Trophy. He was also a driving force in Thurles Town Soccer Club. He was Secretary of Holycross/Ballycahill Gaa. He married his wife Eileen in 1963 and is also survived by his sons Hughie, Pat, Tony and Sean. He died on February 16th, 2014 in South Tipperary Hospital.
