Cóineartú/Confirmation
The children in 5th & 6th class will be making their Confirmation in the Abbey on Wednesday March 28th at 11 o’clock. Preparations have been underway for the past few weeks and we wish the pupils, their families and their teachers Mr. McGrath and Ms. McCormack the very best for this special occasion. A group photo will be taken immediately after the ceremony in the cloister.
School Choir/Cór na Scoile
The children in 2nd, 3rd and 4th class are practising for the Confirmation Ceremony for the past few weeks. The choir will be on the altar along with the pupils from Ballycahill N.S. and I know their singing will add to the occasion. They are to wear their school uniform on the day. Children to be in their places at 10.45 p.m. Many thanks to Ms. Lowry, Ms. Doran, Ms. Clarke and Mrs. Tuohy for all their work with the choir.

Spórt ar Scoil – Sport in our School
Our annual School Hurling League is continuing at a pace. Every lunchtime four teams do battle on our hurling pitch. We have been blessed with great weather to play the games.
Camogie-Ms. Corcoran, Ms. Doran and Ms. McCullagh continue to prepare our camogie players for the forthcoming championships on Monday evenings.
Our Junior Infants are currently enjoying their coaching sessions with John Butler on Friday morning.
Soccer coaching – James Scott F.A.I. has begun coaching with the boys and girls from 4th to 6th. After Easter it will be the turn of classes 1st to 3rd. James is ably assisted by parent Thomas Dwan.
Thursday March 29th
Pupils from 2nd to 6th class have been invited to participate in a fun Sports Development Day in the Dome, Semple Stadium. The day will consist of fun sports activities where competition and winning takes second place to sporting enjoyment. Patrick Ryan and Tommy Ryan, Level 6 Sports & Recreation PLC Students have been visiting our school in recent months coaching sports activities and introducing the children to new forms of activity and exercise. It promises to be a great day out. A bus will bring the children to and from the Dome.
Coin Friday
Our P.T.A.’s “Coin on Friday” campaign continues every week. To date we have collected €90. Monies collected will be put towards the P.T.A. fundraising.
Gáirdín na Scoile/School Garden
With Spring in the air, 5th class have been busy preparing the garden for planting next month. Each class will have their own individual planting areas. We look forward to harvesting the produce in the Summer.
Seachtain na Gaeilge
The Scoil Micheál Naofa team of James Ryan, Eoin Ryan, Ben Slattery, Áine Dunne, Bryan O’Mara and Colin Nolan gave a strong performance in the Tráth na gCeist and did us proud.
Holycross/Ballycahill Camogie Club
The Club wish to thank all parents who sent in tokens over the past few weeks. They have now reached their target and have submitted their application for new playing gear through the scheme.
Dearbháin Tesco/Tesco Tokens
Tesco Tokens are on the go again. If you are shopping in Tescos please collect the tokens and send them into school. We can exchange the tokens for sports equipment to use in our P.E. programme.
Bóthar Walk
On Thursday 29th March our Junior Infants will take part in a 1Km Sponsored Walk in support of Bóthar, an Irish charity group we have supported in the past. The children will travel to Templemore by bus and the walk will take place in the wooded area of the town park. They will wear special t-shirts kindly sponsored by Ely’s Photo Centre. I am sure Ms. McCullagh’s infants will have a great time.
Saoire na Cásca – Easter Holidays
Easter holidays begin on Friday, March 30th. The children will go home at 12 noon. School will re-open on Monday April 16th.
