We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support throughout the term. We would especially like to thank the outgoing Board of Management for all their work over the past four years. Also we would like to welcome the newly elected Board of Management and look forward to working with them in the near future.
Great thanks also to the Parents Council for all their efforts in fundraising and organising events for the school. The Cake Sale raised €210 thanks to the huge effort made by those who donated cakes and sold them. The Sale of Work was a great success, we received €4,000 which is essential for the running of our school. Thanks to all those who helped out in any way.
This has been a very fruitful term for our school. The children have enjoyed many activities. The Christmas concert was a most enjoyable event and couldn’t be so without the huge efforts of school staff and in particular Ms. Rosalie Butler for her work in this area. A cup of tea was enjoyed beforehand thanks to the Parents Council. Thanks to your generosity the raffle raised €460 which will be donated to our two chosen charities Trust Foundation for the Homeless and Brother O’Donoghue’s projects in Zambia.
The Artist in the School project is an ongoing major success under the direction of local artist Philip Quinn. The success of this project is due in no small way to the work done by Mr. Gallagher in applying for the funding and co-ordinating the project. The children from Junior Infants to 6th class have learnt so much from participating in this.
Also a huge thanks to the GAA for providing us with coaching. Mr. John Butler comes once a week and trains the children in hurling and football skills. Also we are very grateful to Declan Carr who gives his time voluntarily each week to promote games in the school.
On the 30th of November it was with much sadness we said goodbye to Mrs. Gallagher when she retired after 37 years in the school. We miss her greatly, wish her all the best for her retirement and look forward to seeing her often when she visits. We thank her for all her work over the years. Also it was lovely to be able to acknowledge Ms. Anita Ryan for her contribution to the school over the years on this day. The disco was a huge success. Ms. Carroll will be taking over on January 9th 2012. Ms. Carroll will teach 1st, 2nd and 3rd classes and Mrs. Ryan will be moving to infants. We look forward to working with her. We would also like to wish Ms. O’Connell every good wish in her future teaching career and thank her for her work here.
Today we raised €154.37 for the Make a Wish Foundation through our non-uniform day organised by the 4th-6th classes.
